Step Cousins is a country band with an authentic sound that you can only get when you grow up in a small town. Their country roots define their sound, but with an added twist of Southern Rock. The band formed in 2011 and over the last five years, Step Cousins has gone from covering country songs, to writing and producing their own original music. They have played at local and regional venues –The Capital Theatre, NPAC, Relay for Life, Jiggy Ray’s, and the Bijou just to name a few. They are also a crowd favorite at festivals and events such as homecoming tailgates, American Downtown Greeneville Fourth of July festivities, the Greene County Fair and First Fridays.
Drawing inspiration from country artists like Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, and Josh Turner and combining that with influences from Aerosmith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Bon Jovi, Step Cousins embrace and embody down home, small-town, backwoods, fun and friends. They give audiences a show and a sound they won’t soon forget The band consists of Chris Johnson lead vocals, Tad Norton drums, Jacob Lewis bass and Taylor Johnson guitar.
