The Capitol Theater of Downtown Greeneville brings to their screen for their April installment of Classics At The Capitol, Director John Ford’s highly influential and celebrated 1956 Western “The Searchers,” starring John Wayne. “The Searchers” will be playing at The Capitol Theater on April 28th, at 7:00 PM. Admission is $5.00 and tickets can be purchased at The Box Office or with the link to the left.

Named the best American Western by the American Film Institute in 2008, “The Searchers” features Wayne paying Ethan Edwards, who has returned home to Texas after the Civil War. When members of his brother’s family are abducted, Ethan vows to not stop until the missing family members are brought home. “During 2017, we received more requests for John Wayne movies than any other,” says Rhonda Humbert, General Manager of The Capitol Theater. “We’re so excited to bring this movie to our audience in April” she continued.

“The Searchers” will be introduced by local film writer Andy Ross. Ross says: “John Ford is widely considered to be the finest director of Westerns who ever lived. ‘The Searchers’ is arguably his masterpiece. Filled with amazing cinematography that can excite even on the small screen. I can only imagine the impact of seeing this film on The Capitol’s big screen for the first time.” A 2K restoration of “The Searchers” will be presented through The Capitol’s state of the art laser projection system.
